We are seeking passionate drug hunters to build our growing “spin-out” company – Kimia Therapeutics. Kimia is innovating drug discovery by combining Chemotype Evolution with state-of-the-art computational approaches to drug major disease pathways.
Position Summary
In this research position, you will play a leading role in applying Chemotype Evolution to identify and optimize novel drug leads for internal and partnered programs. You will design, qualify, and execute biochemical and cellular assays for high throughput drug discovery programs powered by our core platform, Chemotype Evolution. Working closely with scientists in biology and chemistry as part of a multidisciplinary team, the candidate will integrate diverse chemical and biological data to accelerate lead discovery. The ideal candidate is a team-player, motivated by novel challenges, and enthusiastically pursues creative solutions to achieve common goals.
Primary responsibilities
Design biochemical, biophysical, and cellular assays based on literature precedents and/or experience, according to program needs
Optimize, validate, and troubleshoot assays for robustness, sensitivity, and reproducibility to enable implementation for high-throughput screening
Develop and implement program-specific screening cascades or triage schemes
Run compound screening high-throughput workflows
Monitor assay data quality and facilitate communication of data and analysis to project teams in a clear and timely manner
Regular presentation of research progress at internal meetings and with external collaborators
Manage, mentor and provide technical guidance to reports and other members of the team
Required experience and skills
MS (+14 yrs) or PhD (+5 yrs) with industry experience in biochemistry, cell biology, or drug discovery
Extensive experience conducting high throughput library screening campaigns
Experience developing biochemical and cellular assays
Demonstrated understanding of quality parameters in assay development and optimization
Understanding of methods to determine mechanism of action for small molecule activators/inhibitors of enzyme activity, including covalent molecules
Excellent communication, organization and data analysis skills
