Job Summary
Geisinger Genomic Science is developing new software tools to support both research and clinical applications of population-scale genomic data with the goal of integrating genomic data into routine care. This is an opportunity to build systems from the ground up in a dynamic environment that marries the energy of a start-up to the stability of a large healthcare system.The Senior Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of cloud-native Python web applications supporting the management, processing, and analysis of genomic data. Responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for designing and implementing web applications and related services for the management, processing, and analysis of genomic data.
- Implements automated testing and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) of Django web application.
- Codes independently with minimal oversight.
- Contributes to gathering requirements and implements software solutions for maximizing the value of genomic data.
- Collaborates with teammates to develop software following modern software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.

Position Details
Qualifications:
- MS or BS in computer science, bioinformatics or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated expertise in the following areas:
- Software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Full stack web application development in Python, Ruby or a similar modern scripting language
- Server-side web frameworks (Python Django preferred)
- Design and maintenance of RESTful APIs, databases (relational and non-relational), and object-relational mapping (ORM)
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (React, Angular, Vue, JQuery, etc)
- Experience in a regulated healthcare (CAP, CLIA, NY, FDA, etc.) or similar environment preferred
- Experience with cloud software development (AWS or similar) preferred
Education
Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Required), Master's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)Experience
