Academic Hematopathologist

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (USA). The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine is seeking a hematopathologist to join a group of nine and over 220 total departmental faculty.

The selected individual will share in the diagnostic service work and participate in the diverse research and educational activities of the Department, including teaching medical students, pathology residents, and clinical fellows. 

Candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. and be board-certified in anatomic, clinical pathology, and hematopathology. The ideal candidate will have at least three years post-hematopathology fellowship experience with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team; however, recently graduated fellows are encouraged to apply. Specialized training in molecular genetic pathology, coagulation, or medical education is highly desired.  The appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical Track) level, commensurate with experience, accomplishments, and track record of academic achievement.

Our hematopathology team supports the University Hospitals and Comprehensive Cancer Center at Michigan Medicine, which provide general hospital services and specialized hematologic malignancy care (including stem cell transplantation) for adult and pediatric patients. The diagnostic hematopathology service consists of bone marrow and lymph node biopsies originating from local clinical programs and an established consultation service.  The service is supported by high quality flow cytometry, cytogenetics, molecular genetics, immunohistochemistry, and core hematology laboratories.

The Michigan Medicine Department of Pathology is among the top pathology programs in the country, serving not only the world-class providers and patients of the University of Michigan Health System, but also numerous patients through the MLabs outreach division.  With over 220 faculty members and extramural research support totaling over $24 million dollars, the Department has ranked in the top 10 in NIH funding nationally over the past 11 years. The departmental education programs include nine ACGME-accredited fellowships, multiple subspecialty fellowships, one of the most highly ranked pathology residencies in the country, and over 1,000 contact hours at the University of Michigan Medical School.
