HTS Postdoc Position Principal Investigator: Timothy Spicer/ Kirill Martemyanov E-Mail: spicert@scripps.edu or kirill@scripps.edu Duties & Responsibilities: This candidate will be responsible for early drug discovery initiatives focusing on target-based approaches to modulate disease biology using a variety of biochemical high-throughput screening (HTS) drug-discovery assay techniques. This opportunity is for individuals seeking to be trained in advanced skills for industrial scale HTS and procedures relevant to the pharmaceutical industry. They will be responsible for developing and optimize a variety of assays and implementing them for screening on a fully automated HTS platform. This will require them to perform cell biological and biochemical techniques, transfection, protein purification, cellular expression, and cloning. They will be trained to operate and troubleshoot automated liquid handling and analytical equipment as well as to utilize a variety of spreadsheet and data management software systems to generate, analyze, and report data from research efforts.

Requirements: Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry or Engineering sciences. Background in tissue culture, molecular cloning, fluorescence and luminescence assay development. Proficiency with operation of common laboratory and analytical equipment. Ability to work with multiple plate readers, cell culture and design of sensors would be a major advantage. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and desire to work in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary collaborative team.
