This laboratory studies lung inflammation in acute and chronic lung diseases and performs studies in mouse models and cell culture models of lung inflammation. Utilizing the fundamental components of molecular, biochemical, and cell biology concepts, the position will be performing a wide range of lab procedures/duties including but not limited to: basic molecular biology techniques such as isolation and purification of DNA/RNA, mouse genotyping, real time PCR, protein gel electrophoresis, immunoblots, cell culture, flow cytometry, and ordering supplies for the lab. Work will include mouse models of lung disease. Under direct supervision, this position will be involved in planning, executing, recording, and analyzing research experiments in a collaborative work environment.
Education and Experience:
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Essential Skills:
- Understanding of fundamental molecular, biochemical, and cell biology concepts - Familiarity with and capability of performing a wide range of lab procedures/duties including but not limited to: basic molecular biology techniques such as isolation and purification of DNA/RNA, mouse genotyping, real time PCR, protein gel electrophoresis, immunoblots, and cell culture - Familiarity with mouse handling and breeding. - Laboratory experience demonstrating possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. - Ability to work independently, take initiative, and multitask.
Preferred :
Familiarity with basic computer applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
