The Department of Physiology/Cellular Biophysics is looking to hire a Senior Technician to work in the laboratory of Dr. Kousteni. The Senior Technician will have both administrative and laboratory based duties.
Performing routine cell cultures and molecular biology techniques such as DNA and RNA extractions and PCRs.
Perform fully-planned experiments under the direction of senior lab personnel, which include areas such as mouse genotyping, treatment, harvest and processing of tissues from mice.
Assist with management of mouse colonies; record mouse cage numbers.
Record and track experimental results accurately.
Assist with ordering and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies, perform assays and maintain equipment or specific laboratory resources.
Process reimbursement of claims for scientific meetings; coordinate seminar invitations and attendance to other institutions assist with related travel arrangements for the lab.
Requires a bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry or bachelor's degree in another field with relevant coursework, understanding of the fundamental concepts of biological sciences and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
Prior laboratory experience (2+ years)
Highly motivated person with a strong background in immunology and management of mouse colonies
