The Department of Botany and Plant Sciences at the University of California, Riverside invites applicants for an Assistant Project Scientist to conduct research in the laboratory of Dr. Xuemei Chen. In this position, the selected applicant will use a combination of advanced methods in molecular biology, chemistry, and genomics to investigate the mechanisms and functions of RNA modifications and the regulation of small RNA biogenesis. Knowledge and experience in small RNA biology, genomics, and RNA NAD capping are required. Hands-on experience in genomics, such as DNA methylome sequencing, chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing, small RNA sequencing, RNA sequencing, and NAD captureSeq, is a must. Experience in the characterization of metabolites via LC-MS is a plus. Knowledge of the biogenesis and modes of action of plant small RNAs and RNA NAD capping is required. Additionally, we are seeking applicants who are highly motivated, independent, proactive, hardworking, productive, and who work well in a team-oriented environment. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Biology, have at least 4 years postdoctoral experience and have first author publications in top ranking scientific journals.
