Summary of Position: Justin Hwang is currently investigating aggressive tumors including lethal prostate, breast and brain cancers. His goals are to develop precision therapeutics based on clinical data and laboratory experiments. He does so by credentialing and mechanistically examine the role of several novel target genes in cell lines and patient tissue. The identified Researcher will work with Justin Hwang and his current team to examine how tumor regulatory genes mechanistically promote tumor progression or drug resistance in pre-clinical models. The responsibilities are indicated:
70% Perform experiments for projects. -Maintain the health of experimental cell models. -Examine behavior of cells based on molecular biology techniques. -Prepare and organize wet-lab materials related to projects.
10% Reporting, organization and analysis of projects -Document and organize data and results. -Report results from analysis and articulate these findings to colleagues. -Develop and maintain expertise of experimental techniques.
10% Maintain laboratory infrastructure and organization.
10% Attend and present data at lab meetings.
Required Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field of science or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years. -Works effectively in a team-oriented culture. -Willing to learn additional technology critical to the lab. -Will take exceptional records of experiments and procedures. -Familiar with cell culture, lentiviral use or other cell transduction techniques. -Familiar with standard techniques to assay protein, DNA or RNA profiles. -Familiar with bacteria culture and basic plasmid isolation.
Preferred qualifications. -Worked with cancer cell lines.
