As a Senior Automation Support Scientist you will use your technical expertise to serve as the liaison between automation development and field implementation for automated methods on third party automated liquid handling platforms, to drive customer satisfaction and to increase sales revenue.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Acting as the field subject matter expert in his/her assigned region for the applications support of Roche solutions
Work closely with the Sales team to provide pre- and post-sales support for customers who are evaluating or are implementing automated solutions for Roche’s Sequencing product portfolio, specifically the KAPA library preparation and AVENIO product solutions.?
Provides complex support to customers on commercial pre-sales, implementation, verification and evaluation of Roche automated solutions
Provide technical feedback and support to the automation development team on automated method modifications for improvements and development activities.
Train, certify and support the Sample Prep Field Application Specialists on standard automation method installation.
Support custom modifications to customer’s automated workflows in the field.
Collaborate with customers and automation liquid handling providers on a variety of projects, including early access to new methods; method qualification and optimization; and generation of marketing collateral related to Roche’s automated solutions.
Serves as the lead internal resource in creating plans to train and mentor new hires.
Actively engages in marketing or product development initiatives.
Ability to travel 30% of the time.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
3 years of experience implementing, and evaluating complex laboratory, IT products, medical diagnostic equipment, reagents and/or systems. Field implementation and training specialist experience or related experience.
Previous experience mentoring and/or training.
Previous related laboratory, IT, or Medical Technologist (ASCP) experience in a related environment (i.e. hospital, laboratory, university).
Highly Preferred Qualifications
BS or MS in molecular biology, biotechnology, engineering, or a closely related discipline with 5+ years relevant experience.
Experience operating and programming automated liquid handling platforms.
Experience with nanoliter liquid handling platforms.
Experience with multiple computer languages preferred.
Experience translating manual workflows into high throughput automated methods.
Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing sample preparation workflows and applications, including practical experience of genomics protocols and QC processes.
Customer-facing and support experience preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects and adapt to rapidly changing requirements, priorities, and schedules to meet project timelines.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Collaborative personality with strong interpersonal skills.
