Job Summary: Conduct technical operations of the Genome Center (GC), involving molecular biology laboratory work to include processing and analysis of specimens using rtPCR technology and/or next-generation sequencing. Conduct other work as assigned, related to the day-to-day operations of the genome center. Essential Duties: Conduct day-to-day technical operations of the NTGC, including management of inventory and laboratory work related to COVID-19 diagnostic testing and whole exome/genome sequencing (e.g., running rtPCR analysis and/or Illumina sequencing instruments). Work with NTGC staff associated, including the Research Scientist, CLIA Compliance Manager, and LIMS/Research Director to maintain seamless operation and high-quality service standards for the NTGC. Interface with external clients as directed to successfully complete fee-for-service contracts related to clinical diagnostic testing and/or next generation sequencing for research projects. Act as liaison between NTGC and instrument/hardware providers to maintain and troubleshoot instruments as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biologic sciences. Must have experience with Illumina next generation sequencing technology, including running Illumina sequencers and preparing sequencing libraries. Must have at least one (1) year experience working in a laboratory performing genetic analysis on a day-to-day basis or the equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience with rtPCR instruments and analysis software.
