The Donahue Lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts has an opening for an NIH and NSF funded postdoctoral research fellowship in the areas of biomedical engineering and orthopaedic biomechanics. The research involves tissue engineering approaches to treating bone defects. The approaches include using innovative hydrogels to deliver stem cells and novel biomaterial systems for delivering gene therapies to critical size calvarial bone defects in rats. The research will build on the approaches described in the following publications:
The research will be conducted at the UMass Institute for Applied Life Sciences (https://www.umass.edu/ials/) and may involve travel to liaise with collaborators at CU Boulder and the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland.
