The Division of Surgical Oncology focuses on the surgical management of tumors and especially cancerous tumors. Our faculty operate within the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and are recognized as international leaders in personalized medicine, diagnostics and cancer research.
The manager of the Eil Lab will be a critical member of our burgeoning group studying tumor immunology and T cell signaling in the tumor microenvironment. Dr. Eil is a surgeon-scientist with a track record of discovery and innovation in this rapidly evolving and exciting field (Eil R, et al. Nature 2016, PMID 27626381; Eil R, et al Science 2019, PMID 30923193). Dr. Eil started his laboratory in August, 2020 and has an actively funded research program.
This position would be an ideal opportunity to establish a long-term relationship guiding role in the direction of a lab in early phases. The Eil lab will grow significantly over the next several years. Benefits of this position include opportunity acquisition of skills relevant to T cell immunotherapy, access to clinical samples, potential collaboration with external biotechnology (if desired), ownership of independent scientific projects, and input on laboratory direction that would not otherwise be possible in larger established groups.
Masters Degree with major courses in relevant field and 3 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's Degree with major courses in field of researchand 5 years of relevant experience
PhD in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, immunology, or equivalent research related field
Experience with flow cytometry, FACS, single-cell RNA seq, CRISPR-Cas9 genetic engineering, viral mediated genetic engineering, western blots
