As a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, McDermott Will & Emery has established a first-year fellowship through the LCLD Scholars Program. The 1L LCLD Scholar will spend 5 weeks participating in all aspects of McDermott’s 2021 Summer Associate Program in our Los Angeles office, including extensive training, networking, integration and social opportunities, as well as 5 weeks working directly with Amgen, one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies. In addition, the LCLD Scholar will be paired with both a Partner and Associate mentor from McDermott to provide guidance during the summer and throughout the school year. The scholar will also attend the 2021 1L LCLD virtual Scholars Summit.
Our 1L LCLD Scholar will receive a $15,000 scholarship toward their law school education at the completion of this 10 week program. LCLD Scholars are also eligible to earn an offer from McDermott to return as a 2022 Summer Associate at the firm.
We welcome applications from first year students enrolled at ABA-accredited law schools who have:
• A commitment to promoting and advancing diversity • A strong record of academic and professional achievement • A genuine interest in pursuing a career at McDermott upon graduation • The intent to live and practice in the city or region in which the office is located • An anticipated JD graduation date of Spring 2023 at the time of application • An interest in pursuing litigation and/or employment law
