Summary Description: The Gharavi Lab in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking an Associate Research Scientist to conduct NIH-funded research focusing on the molecular genetics of kidney diseases in humans and mouse models. The projects will employ state of the art genomics and bioinformatics approaches (exome, whole genomes, RNA-seq, DNA microarray) in humans and animal models to identify susceptibility genes and apply Precision Medicine approaches to kidney failure. Applicants should have prior experience in genetics, bioinformatics, developmental biology and/or programming to handle large Next-Gen sequencing datasets. The training can be tailored to prepare candidates for positions in academia or industry.
