Summary Description: A post-doctoral opportunity in sensory neuron biology is available in the de Nooij laboratory at Columbia University (New York, NY). Research in the de Nooij lab is aimed at understanding proprioceptor development and function through the use of in vivo mouse models and ES/iPSC-based in vitro models. (Please see http://columbiadenooijlab.org/ for additional information). The current research position is for a project to discern the circuitry and function of distinct proprioceptor subclasses (e.g. group Ia/II muscle spindle afferents and group Ib GTO afferents). These studies will require a range of interdisciplinary approaches, including AAV/Rabies virus-based analysis of proprioceptor circuits, and the development of behavioral paradigms to assess the contribution of MS and GTO afferents in motor control.
