A post-doctoral position is available in the Sims lab for highly motivated and talented applicants who are interested in diabetes research. Dr. Sims' research focuses on mechanisms of islet β cell dysfunction during the development of diabetes, and the discovery and validation of clinical biomarkers of β cell stress. We are specifically interested in extracellular vesicles and their cargo, β cell microRNAs, and β cell DNA damage. The Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases is a highly interactive and diverse research environment with a strong history of mentoring and career development of junior scientists. In addition to a rich research environment, the Center and School of Medicine provide numerous scientific seminar series, career development workshops, and the opportunity to interact with a diverse pool of international scientists.
PhD and/or MD required. Must have molecular biology expertise with at least 3 years of experience. Animal experience is a plus but not required.
