The College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, seeks an experienced Scientist I for the laboratory of Dr. Oleg Tsodikov.
The Scientist will contribute to the design and performance of experiments in the major research areas of 1) structural biology of the enzymes involved in drug resistance and pathogenesis, by both X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), and complementary biochemical studies 2) structural biology of enzymes involved in natural product biosynthesis, both by X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM, and complementary biochemical studies. This involves cloning, protein expression and purification, biochemical assays, crystallization experiments, preparation of cryo-EM samples, data collection (X-ray diffraction and cryo-EM images).
This position will perform experiments for crystallographic studies in Research areas 1 and 2 described above. Analyze data from own experiments. Plan and write manuscripts based on the findings from experiments. Publish primary manuscripts in high impact journals.
Additionally, this position will mentor graduate students and post doc scholar in day-to-day experiment planning and execution. They will also compile research information/data for grant proposals and assist with grant writing by providing tables, figures and parts of text for grant submissions.
