The Department of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC invites applications for a research track faculty position at the level of Research Assistant Professor. The successful candidate is expected to support a SARS-CoV2- related research portfolio, and contribute to an externally funded research program in environmental exposures, lifecourse epidemiology of obesity, cardiometabolic health, and/or immune system function, as well as integration with epigenetics and/or other 'omics profiles. The Department of Epidemiology, located within the Gillings School of Global Public Health, is one of the nation's leading research programs in epidemiology, with a large multidisciplinary training program that emphasizes epidemiologic methods and a range of substantive areas, including infectious disease and environmental epidemiology. In collaboration with the UNC School of Medicine, this position offers opportunities for a wide range of research partnerships, leadership roles, and mentorship activities.
Candidates should have a strong record of scientific publications and evidence of leadership in NIH-funded research grants within the field of environmental, infectious disease, or molecular epidemiology. Collegiality, resourcefulness and motivation are highly desirable characteristics of the successful candidate.
Education and Experience:
Strong quantitative and computational training, with a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience epidemiologic research.
