Department: MED-Urology Job Summary: The lab of Dr. Schaeffer has an immediate opening for a motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on the molecular drivers of prostate cancer aggressiveness, in the dynamic environment of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The candidate will be responsible for carrying forward our recent work on low AR-active prostate cancer (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31515456) from a mechanistic and therapeutic perspective. Our work spans a wide range of in vitro and in vivo experimental techniques including gene expression, protein biochemistry, signal transduction, gene knockdown, functional assays, mouse models, genomics, bioinformatics and interrogation of clinical samples. The laboratory has excellent molecular and cellular imaging capabilities. The candidate must be well versed in molecular biology, cancer genetics, high-throughput studies and in vivo studies. Specific themes to be explored include the molecular drivers of aggressive, lethal prostate cancer, tumor microenvironment, and molecular drivers of prostate cancer outcome in health disparities. Strong publication records and writing skills are required for further consideration. Successful candidate will be a part of stimulating and collaborative scientific environment and will be working with multidisciplinary teams and Chair of the department of Urology and the director of Research.
