The postgraduate year two (PGY2) Informatics Residency Program is a recent addition to the legacy and tradition of excellence in the field of pharmacy informatics education at the Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The residency is completed in Nashville, TN, the nation’s healthcare industry capital.
The residency offers innovative experiences and rotations in clinical information systems (EHRs -Epic, McKesson, StarPanel, Cerner, Medhost, etc.) medication safety, ambulatory care, clinical decision suppoer (CDS), data analytics, and academia.
The resident to gain advanced knowledge and skills in blockchain, the distributed ledger technology in which transactions are recorded chronologically, publically, and securely. It is often regarded as the next frontier in healthcare.
The practice site rotations include the Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (40%), Vanderbilt University Medical Center (50%) and LifePoint Health Corporate Offices (10%).
The residency is completed in the nation's health care capital, where over 400 health care companies have operations and work on a multistate, national, and international basis.
The goal of the residency is to educate and position residents to become change agents and leaders in the healthcare informatics sector.

The resident can complete a teaching and learning certificate as well as master's level training/education in health care informatics.
Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy offers an emphasis in academia with the resident having an opportunity to teach and precept students during rotations.
The residency year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30 the following year.
