The Ryan (Firth) lab in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is seeking highly motivated Laboratory Technician II to work in a fast paced multidisciplinary research environment on innovative research projects focusing SARS-CoV-2 infection of airway epithelium.
Job Description:Â We are seeking individuals with significant experience in cell culture. Their position will involve the isolation, expansion, and differentiation of adult airway epithelial cells. The position will largely involve cell culture and molecular biology techniques. Candidates will be working on a SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 project funded for one year. They will be required to work both independently and under the supervision of postdoctoral fellows in the laboratory. Candidates will not be required to directly handle SARS-CoV-2 virus but will be expected to assist in processing of COVID patient samples for analysis of RNA, DNA, and inflammatory mediators. Candidates should be prepared to work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced research environment. We seek enthusiastic, dedicated and hardworking individuals with a genuine interest in advancing translational approaches for pulmonary medicine. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to function independently as well as a willingness to collaborate within a team are required. We are looking to hire someone who would like to become an integral part of the laboratory and, if funding allows, the position may have the option to be extended.
Preferred Education:Â Bachelorâs Degree in a scientific field
Preferred Field of Expertise: A Bachelorâs Degree in biology, biochemistry or equivalent combination of education and experience with broad knowledge of cell isolation and cell culture techniques and molecular biology.
Posting Salary Range: $20.90 to $24 per hour dependent upon experience
