Position SummaryA postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Benjamin Orlando in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Michigan State University (www.orlandolabmsu.com). We seek a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in leading a project to understand the structure and function of membrane transporters involved in lipid signaling. The successful candidate will leverage cryo-electron microscopy together with biochemical and cellular based assays to understand the mechanisms of bioactive lipid transport and signaling. Description of duties: The postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for all aspects of a structure determination pipeline, including molecular cloning, membrane protein expression and purification, single particle cryo-EM structure determination, and biochemical assays. Desired QualificationsPrior experience with membrane protein purification and/or structural methods (X-Ray crystallography, NMR, Cryo-EM) is not required, but will be regarded as highly beneficial.
