Postdoctoral Research Associate (Research Geneticist/Research Physiologist) – 0440/0435 – GS-11/12 Salary Range of $64,009 to $99,741 Announcement Open: December 1, 2020 until February 28, 2021 The USDA, ARS, Plant Genetics Research Unit (PGRU) in Columbia, Missouri is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Research Geneticist/Research Physiologist) for a two-year appointment. The incumbent will work with a team to develop and refine Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or physiological crop growth models that incorporate large-scale genetic, environmental, and human imposed management factors to predict and explain plant phenotypes. The incumbent will interact with public and private partners in developing these methods and will publish the results in peer reviewed journals. Experience with computer programing, statistical modeling, and/or physiological growth modeling is required (Python, Java, C++, R, APSIM, DSSAT etc.). Experience in one or more of the following is also required: developing machine learning models, developing or using physiological crop growth models, or strong biological/ physiological knowledge related to plant growth and development.
