The Huang Lab is looking for a Research Tech 1/ Research Technologist 2 in CDB who conducts tests and procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records observations and measurements and collects and compiles data in a research lab; requires a practical understanding of a limited number of standard scientific techniques.
This position is a multi-level posting. The position may be a Research Technologist 1 or Research Technologist 2 depending on the minimum qualifications met.
This position is a one year term appointment.
Follows pre-defined protocols, policies, procedure, regulations, Good Clinical and Good Laboratory Practices and conducts standard and repetitive experiments and completes basic trouble-shooting techniques. Sets-up, operates and maintains standard lab equipment.
An entry level in the stated skills is required:
DNA, RNA, Protein isolation, purification and expression
Records test results and may maintain databases. May complete standard and routine clerical duties such as copying, filing, data entry, word processing, etc. May maintain inventory of reagents, mice and lab supplies
Performs other duties as assigned.
HS diploma and some basic science courses are required.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Demonstrated laboratory experience
Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols
Demonstrated computer skills, including spreadsheets and basic computations
Attention to detail and accurate record keeping
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field
Previous experience working in a research lab setting is preferred, but not essential
