JobSummary/Essential Job Functions: Under the direction of an assignedsupervisor, this position works within the Department of Pharmacology,Addiction Science, and Toxicology to engage in research projects using rat modelsto examine the molecular mechanisms of substance abuse.
Conducts molecular biology procedures, such as constructing next-generation sequencing libraries; studying chromatin structures (Hi-C or omni-C); and using spatial transcriptomics and western blotting for protein analysis.
Oversees spatial transcriptomic studies.
Prepares samples for molecular analysis, such as the micro-dissection of brain regions from cryostat sections; the isolation of single nuclei; and the extraction of DNA or RNA from tissue or blood.
Manages preliminary data analysis.
Organizes and records sample storage and coordinates transferring of samples with collaborators.
Maintains the laboratory, equipment, and supplies.
Assist other lab personnel, as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
