POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW , McGovern Institute for Brain Research , to join the Abudayyeh-Gootenberg Lab and work on a research project to develop tools for genome editing and gene therapy and apply these tools towards treating models of genetic disorders in the liver, lungs, and brain. The project involves developing novel programmable gene integration technologies as well as exploring new prokaryotic-derived delivery tools. The research will involve delving into the mechanisms of viral like particle formation, particle entry into diverse mammalian cells, and the design and functional testing of vectors for transduction and gene editing efficiency. Responsibilities will include molecular cloning, protein design, bacterial assays, mammalian cell culture, directed evolution, and animal work for evaluating tissue delivery; working closely with research technicians, students, and principal investigators; and engaging with the scientific community through collaborations, conference talks, and publications. The position is ideal for someone interested in making a major impact in the gene editing field.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a Ph.D. in biological sciences, engineering, or related field; experience with mammalian cell culture, DNA assembly and characterization, molecular biology, and animal work; self-motivation; ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a dynamic, multidisciplinary, team-oriented setting; strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills; a desire to be an integral part of a cutting-edge research team; and the ability to execute detailed technical protocols meticulously.
