Department: Biological Sciences The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia invites applications for a continuing, 10-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track, research-focused) to begin August 15, 2021. The Department is primarily interested in candidates with expertise in Molecular Virology and Immunology. Related interests may include Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Epidemiology. The department consists of 21 full-time faculty and 4 staff. There are ~300 undergraduates in the department with majors divided among BS programs in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Science, Medical Laboratory Science, and Microbiology. Approximately 65 full- and part-time graduate students are enrolled in the MS programs in Cell Biology & Biotechnology, the PhD program in Cell & Molecular Biology, and the graduate certificate in Brewing Science. Qualifications: The candidate will have a Ph.D. in Virology, Immunology or related fields and have demonstrated research success, funding potential, and teaching experience. The candidate should have a commitment to involving undergraduate and graduate trainees in his/her research program. In addition to establishing a well-funded research program, the selected candidate will also be expected to teach both didactic and laboratory courses in virology, immunology and courses related to the candidate’s specific area of expertise. Other expectations include student advising, service on departmental, college, and university committees as well as engagement in scholarly activity.
