Essential Functions: A postdoctoral position is available at Washington University in St. Louis, for work on an NSF project examining the evolution of competitiveness in weedy rice, a major agricultural weed worldwide. The position will involve close collaboration with researchers at the USDA ARS National Rice Research Center in Stuttgart, Arkansas (Jia lab) and will focus on host-fungal interactions and signal transduction pathways mediated by rice blast resistance gene Ptr. Work will be performed at the USDA ARS Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center https://www.ars.usda.gov/southeast-area/stuttgart-ar/dale-bumpers-national-rice-research-center/ and Washington University St Louis. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in plant pathology, agronomy, physiology or related areas of plant biology; or biochemistry or microbiology, with some experience in one or more of the following research areas: yeast two hybrid system and Bimolecular Fluorescence Complementation (BiFC) analysis; microbe culture and fungal transformation; genome sequencing and bioinformatic analysis including MEGA alignments, JMP genomics; qPCR and Real time PCR; RNA seq data analysis for biochemical pathways. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with protein-protein interactions using yeast two hybrid system and rice DNA and RNA data analysis. Salary Range: Base pay commensurate with experience.
