The University of Minnesota is seeking candidates for a tenure-track (Assistant Professor) faculty position who will expand the institution's activities in molecular genetics, specifically in the areas of disease mechanisms and genetically-based therapies for rare disorders, with a focus on those involving the central or peripheral nervous system; the latter may include primary muscle diseases. Expertise in mitochondrial mechanisms of disease and gene therapy technologies such as adeno-associated viral vectors is especially desired. Familiarity with applying these approaches to mammalian models of inherited disease is helpful. A strong record of publications and funding in the areas of expertise is preferred.
Candidate must have a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in molecular biology, genetics, or a related discipline. Candidates must be US citizens or be able to secure permanent residence status.
