The Rockefeller University seeks a Research Specialist, Molecular Neuro-oncology to join Molecular Neuro-oncology. The Research Specialist will perform biochemical assays as needed according to laboratory and assay-specific protocols. Responsibilities include analyzing and reviewing data for completeness, appropriate interpretation, and readiness for supervisor discussion, review, and sign off. Will participate in method validation for new procedures or equipment as needed, developing/writing new procedures and revising old ones. The Research Specialist will participate in daily laboratory operations, including but not limited to management of systems such as inventory, equipment, and environment. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the development, performance, and monitoring of quality control, quality assurance, and quality improvement procedures for the laboratory. Will ensure the departmental biohazard, chemical, hazardous waste, infection control, and other safety policies are followed. The Research Specialist will work with the PI to develop high-risk, high-reward new methods development, perform instrument management activities, and participate in equipment procurement processes as needed.
Bachelor's degree in science and a minimum of five years of research experience required. Must have previous experience performing molecular biology methods in research settings. Willingness to work with a broad array of team members who will supervise different lab sub-projects a must. Working knowledge of related theory, principles, practices, applicable instrumentation, analytical methods, quality control, statistical analysis, and current government regulations a plus.
