The Department of Medicine Division of Pulmonary Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory Technician will provide the technical skills required to process and handling of samples associated with different studies. The incumbent will be responsible for sample processing, banking and database. The incumbent will need to know the Freezerworks database for all aspects of sample banking and retrieving. This Technician will be a part of the technical team at the Translational Research Core Laboratory and facilitate the day-to-day activities related to sample banking of the core laboratory.
Preference will be given to a highly organized candidate who is experienced with bio-medical research, and with a strong background in molecular biology and medicine. The candidate will also be expected to assist with database entry and data management, as well as daily operation of the lab. The incumbent will be directed on a weekly basis by the Director of the Core laboratory and managed by the core lab manager on a daily basis, but will be expected to independently perform and troubleshoot experiments related to sample processing and banking on a regular basis.
Experience with biorespository a plus. Previous experience in molecular biology and cell biology is preferred. BA/BS in Biological Science or in related fields is highly recommended. Additional experience may be substituted for Bachelors degree.
