The Department of Ophthalmology, Research Division, at Columbia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position to conduct translational research on new treatments for traumatic optic neuropathy, age-related macular degeneration and related diseases of the retina. The incumbent will work on characterization of different types of treatments for retinal diseases in in vivo and in vivo systems. The incumbent will conduct experiments in animal models of retinal diseases, perform histological manipulations with retinal and optic nerve sections, and conduct statistical analysis of the treatment efficiency. The incumbent will work on assay development working with purified proteins and different types of cultured cells. The incumbent will interact with outside vendors on designing and conducting pharmacologic experiments.
