Postdoctoral fellow position available in Dr.Valeria Vasquez laboratory, Department of Physiology at the University ofTennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN. Our research laboratoryaims to understand the relationship between structure and function of sensoryion channels (e.g., mechanosensitive ion channels) using a multi-disciplinaryapproach that includes molecular biology, C. elegans behavior, andelectrophysiology. The fellow will investigate the molecular basis by whichdifferent sensory receptors are modulated by lipids. Major duties andresponsibilities: * The fellow will beresponsible to carry out experiments independently. Such experiments includebut are not limited to: Tissue Culture, Transfection, Calcium imaging,Immunofluorescence, Confocal and Super resolution microscopy, animal (worms andmice) husbandry and behavior. * The fellow will betrained in electrophysiological approaches, including, but not limited to patchclamp and two-electrode voltage clamp. * The fellow will assistto weekly lab meetings, department seminars, and to topic-related Universityseminars * The fellow will present their work attopic-related meetings (e.g. Biophysical Society, Gordon Research Conference) * The fellow should beskilled in molecular biology, tissue culture techniques, and cell imaging.Knowledge in ion channels function is highly desired.
