We seek a senior staff person to assume management of drug and genetic screening efforts for pediatric cancers in the Largaespada lab. This work will involve assay design, testing and development, drug library analysis, chemoinformatics, and drug development using DNA-encoded library technology.
Project planning and management: overall 30% Strategic planning with Dr. Largaespada and senior staff: 5% Lab staff training in drug screening protocols: 5% Review of and assistance writing protocols: 5% Literature review and teaching of lab members: 5% Grant and manuscript preparation and writing: 5% Identification of laboratory best practices and equipment: 5%
Specific project work: overall 70% This will involve identifying personnel, equipment, timelines, and methods to achieve the project goals. Added to this, "hands on work" on most projects will be required. In some cases this will be done in collaboration with lab staff. Techniques used will include 2D and 3D mammalian tissue culture and organoids, preparation and analysis of DNA/RNA/protein, drug preparation, combination index calculation, chemi-informatics, and cell culture imaging studies, and overseeing nextgen sequencing projects. Testing drug treatments on 3D in vitro models of peripheral nerve sheath tumors: 30% Discovering and validating synthetic lethal interactions with various tumor suppressor genes: 30% Discovery of new lead drug candidates using DNA-encoded libraries: 10%
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications: -B.S. or B.A. plus at least 4 years of bench laboratory experience including work with tissue culture cells, high throughput drug screening, or a master's degree plus at least 2 years of bench laboratory experience including work with tissue culture cells, high throughput drug screening -Lab management skills including training documentation (standard operating procedures), hiring, and review of data
Preferred Qualifications: -Cancer biology experience -10 plus years of relevant experience
