Post Doc Instructions: Please do not submit an application to this posting. To apply for this postdoctoral research opportunity, follow the directions below in “Applicant Special Instructions”. Department Name/Job Location: This position is in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions: Postdoctoral position available to study the molecular mechanisms that regulate voltage-gated ion channels in the mammalian heart. These channels are critical determinants of action potential generation in the myocardium, and changes in their expression or properties are associated with increased risk of arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. The available position presents an exceptional opportunity for an individual interested in combining molecular, electrophysiological and modeling approaches to define the physiological mechanisms controlling the expression and properties of myocardial ion channels and how these mechanisms go awry in inherited and acquired cardiac disease using native (mouse and human) cardiac myocytes and human induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiac myocytes (hiPSC-CMs). Successful candidates will join an interdisciplinary environment of electrophysiologists, biophysicists, cardiologist and engineers and will have the opportunity to broaden their training and advance their careers in collaborative research activities. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in physiology or a related field and experience in electrophysiology. Preferred Qualifications: Experience/expertise in molecular biology or imaging. Salary Range: Base pay commensurate with experience. Pre-Employment Screening: All external candidates receiving an offer for employment will be required to submit to pre-employment screening for this position. Current employees applying for a new position within the university may be subject to this requirement. The screenings will include a criminal background check and, as applicable for the position, other background checks, drug screen, employment and education or licensure/certification verification, physical examination, certain vaccinations and/or governmental registry checks. All offers are contingent upon successful completion of required screening. Benefits: This position is eligible for full-time benefits.
