The Research Assistant I will be responsible for:
*Performing a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experimental specimen preparations and experimental procedures for the purpose of research, while under immediate supervision. * Assisting in the use of specialized laboratory equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment. * Developing protocols and performing experiments to model cardiac diseases mouse and cell culture models. * Maintaining a transgenic mouse colony and perform therapeutic trials. * Conducting outline molecular biology tasks including cloning and PCR. * Conducting routine histology and immunohistochemistry. * Maintaining excellent records of results and methodologies as well assisting in compiling and analyzing data.
In order to qualify, you must have:
* The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in biology, animal science, toxicology, pharmacology or a related field. A Master's degree is highly desired but not required. * Willingness to work with mouse models is required. * Experience with laboratory skills including cell culture, molecular biology, microscopy, use of basic analytical equipment is desirable. * Excellent inter-personal skills and the desire to learn new skills are a must. * Opportunities for advancement and clinical observation will be available.
