Department: Bioengineering Position Summary: The Laboratory of Biomolecular Engineering and Nanomedicine (Bao lab) at Rice University currently has two postdoc research associate positions open. A major research direction of the Bao lab is to develop and apply genome editing technologies for basic biological studies and curing genetic diseases, with research areas including delivery systems for in vivo gene editing, creating new methods for quantifying gene-editing outcomes, and the design and optimization of gene editing tools for safer and more efficient disease intervention. Consistent with the National Research Council's report, Convergence: Facilitating Transdisciplinary Integration of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, and Beyond, we are seeking candidates who have outstanding potential in research, strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry, and demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively. The postdoc should also be able to mentor other researchers such as graduate students, write scientific journal papers, and assist in grant writing. We seek greater representation of women, minorities, people with disabilities, and veterans in disciplines in which they have historically been underrepresented; to attract international students from a wider range of countries and backgrounds; to accelerate progress in building a faculty and staff who are diverse in background and thought; and we support an inclusive environment that fosters interaction and understanding within our diverse community. The George R. Brown School of Engineering ranks among the top 20 of undergraduate engineering programs (US News & World Report) and is strongly committed to nurturing the aspirations of faculty, staff and students in an inclusive environment. Position Status: Full-Time Rice University is an Equal Opportunity Employer with commitment to diversity at all levels, and considers for employment qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, national or ethnic origin, genetic information, disability or protected veteran status.
