The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a qualified candidate for a Research Scientist Staff position. The primary laboratory role for the Research Scientist is to design, conduct, and analyze studies with a focus on unraveling the pathophysiology behind the inflammatory driven fibrosis process in pediatric scleroderma. The main cellular contributors of interest are T cells, macrophages, endothelial cells, and their interaction with skin fibroblasts. This is a truly translational science laboratory, using patient samples (blood and skin) from our large pediatric scleroderma cohort (biorepository housed in the laboratory) to perform in vitro, in situ, and ex vivo experiments (skin explants). Some effort will also go towards understanding additional variables related to pediatric scleroderma development, such as autoantibodies, and genetic (DNA, RNA, single cell RNA sequencing), and epigenetic studies.
