This position primarily prepares and analyzes samples for elemental and chromatographic analysis on both organic and inorganic samples. The successful candidate will support the research activities at CAES and also will participate in formulating research methods for both sample preparation and analysis and reports directly to the Analytical Services Laboratory Director.

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. -Strong Analytical skills on proper sample preparation for organic and inorganic samples are highly desirable. Contract lab experience desired. -Deeper understanding of general and analytical chemistry, and related instrumental techniques. -Knowledge of working principle of microwave digesters and acid digestion. -Ability to modify and adjust resources needed to conduct experiments. - Ability to gather information to prepare budget and propose estimates for acquisition of supplies and equipment. -Ability to plan and design specific quality control measures and procedures as part of research protocol. -Ability to define standards for the collection of data; ability to set standards for accuracy, validity and integrity; ability to lead others in analysis. -Ability to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. -Ability to adapt and develop experimental design for multiple instruments based upon interpretation of data and or literature review, in collaboration with others.
Master's degree with at least 2 years of experience in sample preparation for elemental and chromatographic analysis. Proficient in sample handling, preparing concentrated acids (nitric, hydrochloric, hydrofluoric) for sample digestion.
