Our translational neuroscience laboratory is looking to hire a research scientist with expertise in data science and computing. The laboratory seeks to understand the long-term effects of acute infection on the brain and behavior. Techniques include microendoscopic calcium imaging and other cutting-edge neuroscience techniques to help dissect neural circuits that control neuroendocrine activity and affective behavior.
Developing and executing computing pipelines for the analysis of 1-photon microendoscopic calcium imaging data and simultaneous behavior in rodents. Assisting with the analysis of high-throughput rodent behavior data. Bioinformatics including the analysis of RNA sequencing data.
Bachelor's degree with 1 to 3 years of experience in a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Masters degree or above in engineering, data science, bioinformatics, statistics, neuroscience, or a related field, as well as significant experience with commonly used programming languages (Python, Matlab). The successful applicant must be motivated to independently troubleshoot analysis pipelines with assistance from the PI as needed. Ability to work well with a team and impeccable organizational skills are needed. Excellent references required. PhD in a related field is desired, as well as some experience in the biological sciences. Experience in the analysis of calcium imaging and rodent behavior would be beneficial.
