Job Description Summary
The Beiting lab (hostmicrobe.org) and the Center for Host-Microbial Interactions (CHMI) at the University of Pennsylvaniaâ™s School of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a skilled bioinformatician to join our team. Ideally, the candidate will possess a strong background in the analysis of single cell genomics data. This position will provide bioinformatics support to a group of 3-4 laboratories, help to manage biomedical data, construct data analysis pipelines, develop bioinformatics applications, and report and publish findings.
The individual will work under the direction of CHMI leadership and will partner with faculty across the school of veterinary medicine to collaborate on the interrogation of â˜omics experiments, with a particular focus on single cell methods, including single cell RNAseq (scRNAseq), single cell ATAC-seq (scATACseq), and spatial transcriptomics. The candidate will be expected to tailor data analysis strategies and pipelines to address specific biological questions in close consultation with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students.
Analysis of single-cell sequencing data
Communicating with laboratories and PIs in planning and interpreting single-cell experiments
Carrying out single-cell encapsulations, library preparations and sequencing
Developing and documenting analytic workflows in R/python for single-cell experiments
Bioinformatician B: Masterâ™s Degree and 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. PhD preferred. Experience in scientific computing working in a UNIX/Linux environment. Perl/Python scripting, and biology/bioinformatics required. Additional experience in single cell genomics, statistical analysis, programming in R, parallel/distributed computing, and database management would be helpful.
