The Buckley School, the oldest co-educational K-12 school in Los Angeles, has an opening for a biology teacher for its 2020 summer school. The course description is below.
Biology (Grade 9) This course focuses on the study of life, including animals, plants and humans. Students will investigate cells, bio-macromolecules, the structure and functions of plants and animals, and the study of ecology. Students also investigate molecular biology topics such as protein synthesis, biotechnology, and genetics. Ninth grade Biology involves a large laboratory component in order to emphasize the real world applications of scientific reading, writing, and reasoning skills.
The class begins on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 and ends Tuesday, July 21, 2020.
Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field
Previous experience teaching Biology
Demonstrated competency in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
Proficiency in using technology in instruction
Exceptional interpersonal skills
A profound respect for children and adolescents.
