The candidate for this Scientist position will be working in the operations group of AbbVie's GLP regulated bioanalysis department. The primary responsibility will be small and large molecule analysis as well as endogenous and exogenous biomarkers analysis to support pre-clinical and clinical studies. In addition, the individual will have opportunities to participate in automation implementation and support as their experience and expertise warrants.
Key responsibilities include:
Executing bioanalytical methods for drugs under development on LC-MS/MS platforms
Use and manage chemicals and biohazardous matrices
Ensure the maintenance of laboratory notebooks and detailed records in compliance with applicable GxP, safety, or environmental requirements
Use, maintain, and troubleshoot automated liquid handlers, LC systems and ultra-sensitive mass spectrometers
Maintain awareness of cutting-edge assay technologies and automation
Collaborate with other scientists in development of automated assays on various liquid handling or integrated systems
B.S. in Analytical Chemistry or related field required. A degree or certification in computer science, desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in managing multiple projects and priorities and work well within a team, and a desire to learn specific techniques for bioanalysis.
B.S. with 2+ years of experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.
Experience with Hamilton STAR automated liquid handling instruments and programming.
Experience with operating liquid chromatography instruments
Experience with operating mass spectrometers
Experience executing evaluation and implementation of new and novel technologies or techniques
Experience with various programming languages, such as Visual Basic, C, C++, etc. is desirable.
Familiarity with regulatory guidelines for bioanalysis and experience working in a regulated environment.
