The Sanjana Lab at the New York Genome Center and NYU's Department of Biology and Center for Genomics and Systems Biology is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to work as a Junior Laboratory Associate within a highly creative and dynamic research team of scientists, engineers, and life science entrepreneurs.
Using genome-scale CRISPR libraries, we recently identified new gene candidates in which loss-of-function mutations provide drug resistance in a cancer model. Our goal is to expand this technology to a wide range of biological applications to elucidate the function of both coding and noncoding elements in the genome in a high-throughput fashion. We are looking for a motivated person to join our team and take part both in applications and technology development of this new screening technology.
Work in a collaborative and challenging environment and take part in planning and executing complex biological experiments, involving molecular cloning, cell culture and next generation sequencing.
Manage small independent projects that include optimization of experimental procedures as part of our screening technology development.
Be responsible for cell culture experiments that span several weeks.
Analyze results of experiments together with other members of the team.
Consult with scientific literature and other scientists as needed to better understand experimental systems and come up with solutions to emerging problems.
Maintain a detailed organizational plan of all future and ongoing experiments.
BS in Biology or related field and some experience in experimental biology.
Previous experience with independent thinking and scientific projects.
Motivation, scientific curiosity and commitment to work in a dynamic and highly productive working environment.
Previous experience with mouse work is a plus, but not required.
Bioinformatics expertise (e.g. UNIX, Python and R) is a plus, but not required.
Please upload a CV, research statement, and contact information for three references. In addition to submitting an application on Interfolio, please also complete this web form: http://bit.ly/SLabRA2019
Preference will be given to candidates with immediate availability.
