Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions in the Department of Integrative Biology & Physiology to study the role of impaired cardiac Ca2+ transport in the progression of heart failure, and cellular mechanisms supporting cardiac function in failing hearts.
These are directed research positions that carry out research projects of mutual interest to the candidate and the sponsoring faculty. This long-term study utilizes a variety of cellular, molecular and integrative physiological techniques in genetically modified mouse models to determine mechanisms supporting function during severe cardiac Ca2+ handling impairment (Serca2 KO mice; Heinis et al., 2013). Ongoing work in this model focuses on the role of adrenergic signaling substrates in mediating sustained cardiac pump function following induction of progressive cardiac Ca2+ derangement and severe heart failure.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in biological science and have experience in cardiovascular biology.
