Specialist Position in the UCSF laboratory of Dr. Susan Fisher The University of California, San Francisco laboratory of Dr. Susan Fisher invites applications for a Specialist position in the field of Placental Biology and Mass Spectrometry–Based Proteomics. Applicants are required to have at least a B.A./B.S. degree in chemistry, biology or biochemistry, and extensive experience in 3 areas. 1. Human Placental Biology. The position requires at least 10 years of previous experience, including but not limited to, the isolation of placental cells, advanced microscopy and video microscopy, as well as laser capture microdissection of specific regions of chorionic villi for global transcriptomic and proteomic profiling. 2. Protein-Based Mass Spectrometry. The position requires at least 5 years of previous experience. The candidate is expected to have outstanding skills in MARS depletion, HPLC, and proteomic data analyses, including SWATH. Familiarity with ProteinPilot, Proteome Discoverer and MaxQuant software packages is highly desirable. 3. Education. The position requires at least 5 years of previous experience. The candidate is expected to possess a proven track record of successful mentoring. In addition, the successful applicant should be skilled in pathway analyses, using software programs such as Ingenuity Pathway Analyses. Outstanding writing skills and figure preparation are also highly desirable.
