Postdoctoral position is for three years, with an optional fourth year. Start date in June- August 2020.
Approximately 75% effort will be in the research lab, and 25% will involve teaching-related training and activities. Scholar will be co-mentored by a core engineering faculty member and a partnering clinician. Research areas include Biomedical Imaging Sciences, Regenerative and Immune Engineering, Genome and Epigenome Engineering, Molecular and Cellular Systems Biology, Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Treatment, Computational Medicine, Cancer Engineering, and Systems Neuroscience and Neuroengineering.
For their training in instructional approaches and their teaching internships, fellows will be guided and mentored by experienced STEM faculty from Morgan State and Coppin State University, two Historically Black Universities (HBCUs) in Baltimore City.
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and commit full-time effort to the program for three years.
Must have a background or interest in biomedical engineering and its applications and have received a PhD or MD/PhD in engineering, computer science, biophysics, chemistry, molecular/cellular physiology, neuroscience or genetics within the past two years. MD degree may also qualify if having a previous degree in engineering. Successful applicant must have an expressed interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. Applicants should be able to explain how training in teaching and mentoring undergraduates will enhance their future career success.
