1. Function as an integral member of a team investigating mechanisms of pain and hypersensitivity, with studies spanning animal models of migraine, visceral pain, chemotherapeutic-induced peripheral neuropathy, post-operative pain, and persistent inflammatory pain, to the study of tissue of patients suffering from these pain conditions.
2. Participate in a variety of molecular, cellular, and immunohistological methods including cell culture, genotyping and maintaining knockout mice, single cell RT-PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, protein quantification, western blotting and fluorescence microscopy.
3. Perform a variety of immunohistological and biochemical assays, including identification of suitable strategies for visualization of targets of interest, verification of antibody specificity and establishing ELISAs for protein quantification, and interpret the results.
4. Trouble shoots methods and optimizes protocols.
5. Keep precise records and complies results and assemble them in presentable formats (graph, plots, tables, etc.).
6. Attend and present at local scientific meetings including lab meetings and seminars.
7. Instruct and assist undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral fellows in methods of immunohistology, ELISAs, western blots PCR and flow cytometry/FACS.
8. Function as a lab manager, including oversight of following functions: a. Order supplies for the laboratory. b. Develop and maintain/monitor budgets for ongoing experiments, contracts and grants. c. Maintain chemical/supply inventory. d. Maintain records and signage, PPE, or other safety equipment and supplies as well as training records of laboratory personnel required by University regulations (IACUC, EHS, DEA, etc). e. Maintain laboratory equipment/monitor service contracts.

Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related scientific field and three (3) years of experience with biochemical or biological laboratory research. Experience must include at least two years of experience with each of the following:
