Job Description Summary
The person holding this position will assist in directing and overseeing projects exploring the role of type I interferons in HIV, SIV and SHIV natural history. The person should have at least 5-10 years of experience in standard molecular biology techniques, HIV/SIV/SHIV virus isolation, human and non-human primate primary cells tissue culture, and a broad knowledge of innate immunity, in particular of type I interferons. Specifically, the person should be familiar with HIV/SIV/SHIV culture under BSL2/3 containment condition, performing viral neutralization studies in primary and reporter cell-lines, cloning of full-length replication competent molecular clones of HIV/SIV/SHIV, performing and analyzing next generating sequencing data. The person will also perform experiments to evaluate the mechanism of action of host restriction factors, including ZAP and tetherin. A PhD, MD or equivalent will be required. Position is contingent on funding.
