Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) invites applications for the position of Research Technician I in the laboratory of Prof. Tobias Janowitz.
You will become part of a team that will use laboratory and clinical research to discover how tumors interact with the body. We will investigate how the interaction between the tumor, the systemic metabolism, the hormone system, and the immune system can be harnessed to develop new combination therapies for patients with cancer. To help with this effort, we are looking for a highly motivated, curious, and interactive person to join as technician. You will work in a state-of-the-art laboratory and will be part of a team of basic scientists and clinician scientists. You will have the ability to grow with the team and to make an important contribution to the research and infrastructure. Applications are particularly encouraged from candidates who are planning to apply to medical school or graduate research programs in the future.
The ideal candidate should have experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques. In addition, the candidate should have strong organizational skills and experience in using and maintaining data spreadsheets.
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline is required. Experience: Work will include research with mouse models of disease and willingness to handle animals is an absolute requirement. Experience in mammalian cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques is desirable. Comprehensive skills in data handling and excellent record keeping are equally important. Skills: Must be curious, very organized, and highly motivated, and team orientated.
